Julian Livingstone, in private practice as a self-employed Architect for the past 23 years, specialises in the sensitive repair, conservation, conversion and extension of country and town houses; barns; listed buildings; garages and garrets;
the design and construction of contemporary individual homes for private clients;
the care and conservation of churches.
Concentrating on private buildings:
producing solutions to clients’ aspirations with an emphasis on the imaginative;
within the constraints of historic buildings, using both traditional and contemporary materials;
providing solutions to delight, excite and stimulate.
As a member of the register of Architects Accredited in Building Conservation and the Institute of Historic Building Conservation, Julian Livingstone is qualified to advise on the most appropriate methods to care for historic buildings.
Julian Livingstone is the inspecting Architect for, currently, 32 Church of England churches in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, ranging from Grade 1 Saxon to modern and unlisted.
As inspecting Architect, he prepares Quinquennial reports on the condition of the fabric and structure of the church, liaising with the Parochial Church Council and preparing specifications and schedules of work as necessary to help maintain these buildings for the future. In the role of inspecting Architect, Julian Livingstone also helps with alterations and extensions to the churches he helps protect.
Julian Livingstone is a voluntary member of the Portsmouth Diocesan Advisory Committee and a voluntary member of the Winchester and Eastleigh and the Portsmouth, Gosport and Havant Planning Design Review Panels.
